Hello hello, and welcome to Episode 87 of Life On the Brink!
Today we’re talking about celebrating! I mean, who doesn’t love a party?
Few things excite me as much as a party, and even more so when I get to throw it! When the time comes to celebrate the special moments in life, there’s so many opportunities to be creative, to nurture others and foster relationships, and even better when you can tie it to a THEME (love love love).
Well, today I’m joined by someone who shares my passion for party-throwing, and is now in fact my co-party-thrower-in-crime. Of course, I mean my sister Sarah. She has joined me on the podcast several times for our Movie Night series, but today we’re branching out into all-out parties and other creative ways to celebrate.
If you haven’t yet enjoyed our previous movie chats, feel free to check out our seasonal movie night series. Sarah and I have quite a bit in common, mostly that we agree on a lot of our favorite movies and that we love throwing a party, so we always have a ton of fun when we have these chats.

As always, I’m leaving any relevant links below, but the heart of this conversation is in the audio, so head to 3:44 of the audio player above or read the full transcript here.
Basically we’ve found that the party-throwing process is best split up into four steps:
1. PLANNING. Lists galore, my favorite.
2. SUPPLIES. Shopping and crafting.
3. SETTING UP. Two words: time management.
4. DURING THE PARTY! Flexibility is the name of the game.

TOPICS
-How did your love for party-throwing come about?
-How do you develop a theme or general mood throughout the party? How can each of these four steps relate back to it?
-Where and how do you gather party supplies? *Hint: we do a lot of shopping at our own houses.*
-How do you try to manage your time during the setup process?
-What things have you learned from experience about throwing a party? *Lots of funny stories here!*
-What kinds of occasions (beyond birthdays, that is) might call for a party?
-And finally, are there any specific parties that you’d like to realize in the future?
And a little bit from Sarah's bachelorette (thrown by me). Just little Disney touches here and there.

And if you enjoyed this episode, you might like some of these previous Life On The Brink episodes:
From Sarah's convention-inspired birthday. Here's a clip of our cousin during the "wrong answers only" nerd-panel presentaions.
Sarah’s Little Joy: She called it more of a “moderate Joy,” and it’s the fact that she now enjoys olives. Growing up, she never liked them, but she says kalamatas have been the “gateway olive,” and apparently last week she had some mixed olives in oil and herbs that were life changing.
What She’s Listening To: We took inspiration from the Shark Party book club, and chose to share “That’s All” by Bobby Darin, as it begins with “Mack the Knife.” Also, this is just such a great album, and is nice background music for lots of different parties.
Thank you so much for listening!

I'll be back in two weeks with a new episode, so party on!
